Episil

episil® is easy to use with an
immediate relief of oral pain

Easy to use

episil® is administered to the mouth by using the spray pump and liquid is distributed
in the oral cavity by swirling and using the tongue. The spray nozzle should be directed towards affected areas in the mouth. The dose volume is small, 0.15-0.45 mL which corresponds to 1-3 sprays, and it is important to allow a few minutes for the liquid to
gel and the protective barrier to form.

Immediate effect and sustained pain relief
Clinical trials on cancer patients with oral mucositis have demonstrated that the lipid
film that is formed a few minutes after administration of episil® strongly adheres to the mucosal surfaces (Ref 1). The lipid film protects the sore mucosa and decreases the pain by an average of 40% after a single dose of episil®. A long lasting effect of at
least 8 hours duration has been further demonstrated (Ref 1).

Pain is reduced by an average of 40% after administration of a single dose of episil® in patients
with radiotherapy induces oral mucusitis.

Convenient pocket sized multi-dose device
episil® is a preservative free liquid provided in a convenient ready-to-use, pocket-sized, spray device for intraoral administration. episil® gives pain relief via mechanical barrier that is formed by the lipids.

episil® forms a protective lipid film on the soar mucosal surfaces.

episil® contains a patented mixture of soy phospholipid (lecithin) and glycerol dioleate.
After administration, and in contact with small quantities of aqueous fluid present in the
oral cavity, the lipid mixture self-assembles to form a robust protective lipid membrane
that strongly adheres to the oral mucosa (Ref 1).

episil® is used for treatment of oral pain caused by e.g. oral mucositis. Oral mucositis
is induced by radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy during cancer treatment.

No systemic effects
episil® forms a protective film on the mucosal surfaces. There are no systemic effects and good local tolerability has been demonstrated in clinical and pre-clinical studies. episil® can be swallowed.
